FAQ

The purpose of the Lottery is to provide an immigration opportunity for persons from countries other than the countries that send large numbers of immigrants to the US every year. That is why natives of some countries are not eligible to apply. Non-US nationals, natives of the countries determined by the US Immigration and Naturalization Service may apply.

Any person, who meets the simple, but strict eligibility requirements may submit the entry to the DV Lottery and have a chance to win it.

What a Green Card gives you? Most importantly, it gives you permanent residency in the USA. It means that you have almost the same rights like other US citizens have. You can work, live, leave and enter the country legally.

It is important to understand that DV Lottery program is really a lottery. There is no guarantee of being selected. However, the good side of it is that you may participate in the US Green Card Lottery every year waiting for your lucky chance.

The purpose of the site is to make the participation easy, convenient, and to eliminate the factors which may cause rejection of your entry. These factors are numerous. During the last lottery, the great number of applicants failed to submit their electronic entries due to improper preparing of digital photo-images or impossibility to access the EDV Entry Forms. It also worth to mention that those interested persons, who missed the registration period, failed to apply.
